LKSB activities

Each student can choose to come to one of the events in universities or nationwide. All events (except camps and conferences) are for free and are organized mostly by students, staff workers and LKSB graduates.

Several times a year you can join one of our camps and conferences, city groups orgenize bigger events at least once a month, but small Bible study groups meet once a week. Each year LKSB students take part also in Student days in Jelgava, but international students meet at least once in International Cafe in Riga.

In January 2007 LKSB staff, students and graduates started to work on project called "God's Idea". It includes printing and distributing the Gospel of Mark for students and organizing small discussion groups in all seven LKSB cities.

Camps

LKSB organizes over 10 different camps and conferences each study year. Many of them have become an important part of LKSB training program and outreach and repeat in about the same dates every year. However, the speakers and teachers change and there's always something new and interesting! Some of the camps and conferences are only for students who are involved in LKSB, some of them are open for all students in Latvia as well as international students. One must be at least 18 years old in order to participate.

Main camps we do around the year:

¤ Student leader Summer camp
     ¤ Student Summer camp (outreach)
     ¤ Student leader Autumn camp
¤ Identity or People Skills seminar (outreach)
     ¤ Contagious Christian course
     ¤ Student leader Winter camp
     ¤ Student Winter camp (outreach)
     ¤ The Small Group camp
     ¤ Synergy - a hike camp (outreach)
¤ Student leaders Spring camp (evaluation and planning)

Small groups

Those non-christian students who want to learn about Christian faith and those believers who want to grow in knowledge and understanding of God's Word, have an opportunity to meet in small groups for study, discussion and fellowship. These groups usually meet once a week and are lead by students, staff or young graduates.

A "small group" - what does it mean? It means 3-10 students meeting in a dorm room or somewhere else, one or two of them are the leaders who have prepared in advance and chosen questions for discussion. The small groups are as different as students taking part in them, and also the leaders have different personalities and leadership styles. So dynamics of each group depend on them as well as on each participant's activity and willingness to invest.

In  LKSB students have to go through so called "levels":

» Level one: The Christianity Explored

The goal of the group is to intruduce people to personality and life of Jesus Christ. The 8-10 week study and discussion is based on Gospel of Mark. For all students who are interested!

» Level two: The Gospel of Mark

The goal of the group is to study through the Gospel of Mark and grow in knowledge and understanding of Scripture and person of Jesus Christ. Usually it takes regular meetings up to 2 study years. For young Christians, but nonbelievers are welcome as well!

» Level three: Paul's Letter to Romans

After finishing Mark's Gospel students usually study Romans. It takes regular meetings up to 2 study years. These groups are for Christians only.

» Level four: The Bible Overview

After finishing Mark and Romans students move on to study The Bible Overview. Sometimes it is studied in leadership teams not in a seperate group. This course can also take regular meetings up to 2 study years. For older Christians only.

Note: Some leadership teams study "The Images of Leadership" by Rich Lamb or other materials as well. There are also small prayer groups who meet in some of the cities. To learn about them, ask the city group leaders and staff.
